INTRODUCTION
About Juliette Schraauwers
Juliëtte Schraauwers is a 'Childhood Changemaker' aiming to empower the current generation to blossom into holistic thinkers and doers, connected with themselves, others, and the Earth (Inner, Outer, Together), thereby creating a healthy future for the next 7 generations.
”As a young child, I already had a heart and a grand vision for a better world. I am here to give the ReGeneration a voice and see endless possibilities to contribute to positive change. Over the past five years, I have had the privilege to inspire over 10,000 families and education innovators worldwide through my Instagram (12,000 followers), Linkedin (6,300 followers), TEDx 'Climate Count Down 2022', and numerous interviews, including Maatschapwij (read 70,000 times), de Correspondent, various podcasts such as Oersterk by Richard de Leth, Eindbazen by Wiggert Meerman, and Het Groene Hart by Jelle Derckx.
I was nominated as the 'Voice of a new era of Leaders', recognized as an 'Improver' by Triodos Bank, and named a 'World Improver' by Viva400. I won the Freelancer of the Year award and regularly took the stage as a speaker to mobilize large groups. Together with my partner, I built a sustainable house, the video of which has been viewed over 220,000 times on YouTube. Through my training, I have helped over 600 people transform to increase their positive impact. Through my transformative talks, training, and ToolKids, I provide education, resources, and support to anyone looking for tools to create a regenerative future for the next 7 generations.”
What drives me and why?
The hidden impact of education is profound and affects all aspects of our lives. Rising rates of children experiencing fatigue, concentration problems, burnouts, depression, climate stress, and obesity highlight the urgency of our current situation. How children learn and what they learn profoundly influences their inner world and shapes our outer world in the long term. This is evident in the loss of biodiversity, toxic substances in food, air, soil, and drinking water, and the decline of animal species essential for our children's future.
According to Juliëtte, we are not facing a climate crisis but a generational crisis perpetuated by cultural norms and driven by endless economic growth. Placing ourselves above nature has made children disconnected from their inner and outer worlds. "Education is still based on principles from the Industrial Revolution," says Juliëtte. Children are efficiently and standardizedly educated to become better consumers rather than better humans, which contradicts a holistic lifestyle connected to nature."
This perspective comes from Juliëtte's experiences, where creativity, entrepreneurship, and vision have guided her contributions to a better world since her youth. Juliëtte has founded several regenerative businesses with impact missions, including NOWSCHOOL, a blueprint for holistic education globally. This initiative promotes a generation of holistic thinkers and doers by constructing a new ecosystem that amplifies impact and mutual reinforcement. Instead of fighting against the system, they roll their sleeves together to build a new ecosystem for the next seven generations.
"What if happiness, health, freedom, and cooperation played central educational roles? What if we unlearned self-imposed frameworks and formed a new model around the child and the future?"
Juliëtte speaks about holistic education, holistic living, and creating a holistic learning environment. She advocates for shifting from a linear system to a learning ecosystem with a living curriculum inspired by new scientific insights, ancient wisdom, and personal experiences. "The only limitation is our imagination—let's dream and play again like children."
Juliëtte Schraauwers is an award-winning entrepreneur, visionary, and Childhood Changemaker. She passionately speaks about holistic living, with education playing a crucial role.
As a child, Juliëtte struggled to adapt to traditional schooling. Labelled dyslexic at a young age, she was treated as though she had a disability. Yet, outside of school hours and homework, she spent all her time in her favourite classroom: the outdoors, where she felt deeply connected. This environment nurtured her creative, solution-oriented, and entrepreneurial spirit. It was here that she could be herself, asking questions like, "Why do we flush drinking water down the toilet?", "Why do we eat animals?", and "Why do businesses only think short-term?"
Her quest for a better world began early. She encouraged her neighbours, for example, to rescue snails from the sidewalk after heavy rain or raise 1500 guilders with classmates for earthquake victims in Turkey.
Juliëtte turned her 'disability' into a superpower, pursued a creative vocational education, and studied at the Design Academy in Eindhoven. Her vision for a better world and her creativity drive her life's path. She has founded several companies that contribute to a regenerative world and our connection with ourselves and nature. These include RESCHOOL (with training programs like Childhood Changemakers Academy & Educate to Regenerate), NOWSCHOOL and her of platform julietteschraauwers.com (Speker). Together with her partner, she built a sustainable home with an ecological and edible garden.
Juliëtte's journey began with the belief that our current way of life does not align with who we are and that education is the key to systemic change. Her experience with education has remained unchanged since her school days, further motivating her. Her ability to inspire and encourage others to build a better world together has already reached over 100,000 people worldwide, thanks partly to her TEDx talk "What I wish I learned in school" and her daily inspiration on social media.
Recently, becoming a mother has deepened Juliëtte's holistic vision. She realizes that the prevailing belief has always been that children learn from us, but we may have much more to learn from them. Her talks focus on redesigning our lives, surroundings, and education for a positive future—for ourselves, our children, and the future seven generations. "When we change childhood, we change the world."
For Good: What does 'good' mean to you?
"That we do everything to leave a better Earth for future generations; after all, we are borrowing the Earth from our children. This can only succeed if we give growing and future generations a voice, enabling us to think and act long term truly."
Walk the talk: how are you valuable?
"Every year, 135 million babies are born. Babies grow into toddlers, teenagers, and adults. Every one of the 135 million children born each year deserves to grow up on a sustainable and viable Earth. I give these and future generations a voice because they must be heard in all our boardroom meetings, business plans, and business models. Directly or indirectly, everything we do impacts the next generation. It is up to us to positively contribute, and that's what I want to inspire people to do."
Do you have an example or source of inspiration?
"Mother Earth. It may sound cliché, but we can learn all the lessons we should learn in school from nature. Nature is incredibly intelligent and wise. For every problem in the world, nature has already devised a solution. It's up to us to observe her better and learn from her. The world is my classroom, and every day, I am amazed like a child at all there is to learn from nature."
What brings you joy?
"Planting seeds in every possible way. Literally, by working in my vegetable garden with my baby in a carrier. But also by speaking to groups and guiding them through change. Even more beautiful is hearing later that they implemented it. Furthermore, I enjoy every adventure with my little family."
